LODO LIGHTS

Current3 projectionLoDo Lights is an urban project commissioning contemporary light art installations in historic places. It was established in 2007 with the support of the 501(c)3 Lower Downtown Neighborhood Association.

Six sites for light installations in the LoDo Historic District were selected by community leaders and approved by the Lower Downtown Design Review Board. The first light art piece was dedicated on March 6, 2009 as a three month installation. This commissioned work titled, Current3 by Colorado sculptor, Virginia Folkestad, was a private/public collaboration with the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs.

Due to popular demand Current3 is ongoing. It is pronounced, “Current cubed”. To experience the lights, stroll on over after dusk to the pedestrian railroad bridge at the end of Wynkoop Street over Cherry Creek. Our plans are to and add more lights and new interactivity to this work and complete more installations at additional sites.
